Buying Leads For Network Marketing

Buying leads for network marketing? Is it a good idea?

After all, most network marketing trainers claim that it’s simply a numbers game right? The more people you show, the more people you sign up.

As the old network marketing mantra goes at most live training events…..

“SHOW MORE PEOPLE”

Because Some Will, Some Wont, So What….who’s next!

This was the prospecting model i learned in network marketing as well and I often used it while prospecting.

I approached people at the gym, at coffee shops, waitresses, retail store workers, fuel attendants, people at work.

I basically became a network marketing pitch machine and more often than not, most of these people said “NO”

So before we decide whether it’s a good idea to be buying leads for network marketing, let’s take a look at why people typically buy.

The Reason People Typically Buy

It may sound cliche, but the biggest reason people buy is because they Know, Like and Trust the person they are buying from or the product in question.

Think about it…why do you choose a Samsung or iPhone when selecting a mobile device?

You may not personally know the CEO of Apple or the engineer who designed your Samsung mobile device, but you have a certain amount of trust in the brand itself.

And how did this Trust come about in the first place?

The product DELIVERED GOOD VALUE in the past and it’s what you’ve come to expect from the brand.

The same goes for buying financial products from your financial advisor.

You have come to trust that the person has your best interests at heart (even though, your financial planner’s advice is probably driven by a profit motive in the background that might not serve you).

As long as we FEEL like we can trust someone or we FEEL LIKE WE KNOW them, it’s normally good enough to make the buying decision.

And that’s the reason people buy…they need to at least FEEL LIKE THEY KNOW YOU and can trust you enough to buy from you.

The Problem With Buying Leads For Network Marketing

So what is the biggest problem then with buying leads for network marketing?

Those people don’t know you

It’s as simple as that. You’re a complete stranger to them.

They have no idea who you are. Sure you could just call it a numbers game and run through as many names as possible, but chances are that you’ll spend a whack load of money, constantly buying what is really poor quality leads.

Most people who join a network marketing company are typically turned down by friends, family and acquaintances. And these are people who at least do know you to a certain degree.

What then are the chances that a complete cold market stranger will purchase anything from you?

They have not been pre-qualified

Many lead generation services claim to sell qualified leads, but much of this claim is filled with marketing hype.

In 99% of cases, the leads you buy are of poor quality because they are not pre-qualified at all.

Choose The Rights Customers From The Start

To find this out, simply make contact with these people and you’ll soon find out that you wasted your money on obtaining poor quality names and numbers of people who will more than likely be annoyed that some stranger is trying to take their money.

Want proof of this?

Think about the many sales calls you have personally received from an insurance company or debt review company. Did you enjoy them pitching you?

I would guess not.

You Don’t Have Permission

The last point on the problems with buying leads for network marketing is that these people have not personally given you permission to communicate with them.

I recall signing up to an investment service recently and without my knowledge, they sold my details to other marketers.

If you don’s have permission from customers. You get rejected.

In no time I was being bombarded with spam mail from people I did not know, trying to entice me to buy their products.

Needless to say I was extremely upset because I had not given these people permission to communicate with me. Even though they were marketing similar products to what the company I had signed up with was offering.

But it made me so angry, that I even ended up cancelling the service with the original company as well. Because I felt that they betrayed my trust by selling my details without my permission.

A Better Approach

So, if im suggesting that buying leads is not a good idea, then what is the alternative?

Because in the end we still want to build our network marketing businesses and for that we need to find prospects.

What worked for me was learning ATTRACTION MARKETING, which is quite simply the process of creating a brand and online presence where TARGETED prospects come to you instead of you chasing after them.

This is done by firstly building an audience through the creation of valuable content creation that delivers solutions to your target audience.

By creating valuable content in the form of videos, blog posts or podcasts, you’ll automatically begin attracting your ideal customer.

The secret however is clearly defining WHO that customer is first, so you understand what they are looking for BEFORE you try to solution their problems.

This will help you build TRUST with them, so that it becomes alot easier down the line when you make them an offer to purchase your product or service.

Conclusion: Buying Leads For Network Marketing

Buying leads for your network marketing business is not the best idea in my opinion. It will likely lead you on a journey of frustration and rejection which will make even the toughest salesman (or woman) quit the business.

Network marketing is a tough business to build. So why create even more frustration for yourself?

The answer to the problem of how to recruit more reps and grow your team lies in your ability and willingness to learn marketing skills that will ATTRACT your perfect prospect to you and make your business alot more enjoyable in the long run

Sincerely
